Steitz's Resort
About This Spot
Steitz's Resort is the kind of place that gently invites you to slow down and soak in the classic lakeside vibe that has quietly endured through generations. Nestled along the tranquil Bluff Lake, this marina embodies a warm, unhurried rhythm where locals and visitors gather like old friends, sharing stories beneath a canopy of sun and sky. The porch and dining areas buzz softly with the comforting hum of easy conversation, the clink of glasses, and that unmistakable feeling of returning to a place that feels just right.
The atmosphere here is unpretentious but rich with character — historic touches mingle with the natural beauty of the water’s edge: sailboats bobbing gently, the late afternoon light shimmering on the lake, and a salty breeze that carries faint hints of the kitchen. There’s a sense of timelessness, where the familiarity of lakeside living blends with the spirited energy of a small community hub.
What makes Steitz’s stand out isn’t just the views or even the classic marina setting—it’s the way food and drink become part of the experience rather than the main event. Menus feel like a warm embrace, offering hearty comfort with a nod to the area’s heritage and the season’s best. Whether it's a crispy perch caught fresh from nearby waters or a rich, bubbling bowl of baked French onion soup, every bite seems to connect you more deeply to this lakeside ritual.
Service here feels genuine and familiar—the kind that comes from decades rooted in family traditions. Conversations with the staff and longtime patrons you meet at the bar or on the docks add layers to the experience, making it easy to feel like part of an unfolding story rather than just another visitor passing through.
Steitz’s Resort isn’t about flashy moments or rushing to the next thing. Instead, it offers a steady, quiet joy—a friendly place where the charm lies in the human connections forged over good food, thoughtful drinks, and the incomparable luxury of time spent by the water.

This place is a hidden gem! The food is always consistent and fresh. The cocktails are on point, and you can not beat the lake views! Baked French Onion Soup is a must. Such friendly staff really makes Steitz's one of my go-to places for a great dinner.

Doesn't look like much from the outside, but once your inside really cool atmosphere. The chef needs to rethink about German food, could be so much better, tonight was Friday fish fry, the haddock(boil)was way over cooked, the perch was outstanding! The french onion soup was a bit watery, Would really like to see more authentic German/European food.

Chill, historic, and iconic restaurant and marina on the Bluff of Bluff Lake. This is the chain at its best. Mitzee is a sweetie pie. If you want to experience the Chain like your Grandparents did, go here. Strike up a conversation with the bar natives! This is a FRIENDLY PLACE. A vegetarian entree and a baked walleye option would be welcome. They offer two fish batters—thick and thin—this was appreciated. Next time I will try a German food specialty.
